An elected Liberal Government will restore funding to the Frankston to Baxter Rail Line upgrade—committing up to $900 million to support the delivery of a full business case, early works, and construction of this long-overdue infrastructure project.
Member for Flinders Zoe McKenzie said “Traffic congestion and availability of public transport is a major problem for commuters on the Mornington Peninsula. This project will be a game changer, connecting residents to jobs, education, services and amenities on the Peninsula and beyond.”
What this means for Flinders:
✅ Electrification of the rail line – faster, safer, and more reliable train services between Frankston and Baxter.
✅ New and upgraded stations – including Langwarrin, Frankston East, and Frankston.
✅ Real solutions to congestion – reducing competition for car parks in Frankston.
This is a transformational project that will support future growth and liveability in our region. After Labor walked away from our community and cut this funding, only the Liberals will invest in our local infrastructure.
This project is part of the Liberals’ plan to build stronger communities and get Australia back on track.
Ends.
